Young People ~

Once you have made contact with Safety Net we hope that the abuse is over for you. We are here to help you recover from the devastating effects of abuse.

If it is not over we will help you bring it to a rapid close by working with you and with other agencies who can help you. If you need help to be safe we will ensure that the Police and Children’s Services are informed to ensure your safety.

It can be very confusing when the person who has abused you was also someone you loved – like a parent. We understand how hard this can be. However, we cannot provide counselling for you until you are safe and the abuser no longer has contact with you. This is because you are not safe from further harm. Please tell us if this is the case and we will arrange to support you in being safe.

The service we offer is confidential, however we know that there may be on-going concerns about your welfare and in these cases we may need to share information with relevant authorities to protect you.

We have clear guidelines which we are bound to follow to care for you and will talk to you about this before we share any information. You can ask to see these guidelines at any time.

What is Safeguarding? ~

Safeguarding is a term used by professionals to mean protecting children and young people from on-going harm, but also to prevent harm, or further harm to a child or young person.

Where there has been sexual abuse, rape or domestic violence by someone you know there are often problems with emotional abuse and/or neglect also which we can help you recover from.

Safety Net is committed to helping you recover from abuse and keeping you safe from further harm.
